TOP 7 STEPS FOR A SAFE & FUN EDIBLE CONSUMPTION

You’re ready to start your edible journey, but taking the first few steps can feel daunting.

Remember that the products we sell are federally regulated and Health Canada holds these companies accountable to have accurate dosing, no unwanted chemicals, clean facilities, no presence of heavy metals, and a full list of ingredients including sugar content.

This is why we can support you on a safe and fun journey to explore cannabis edibles.

Here are the 8 things to keep in mind so you enjoy your edible explorations:

1. Spend time doing your own research. There are many ways to consume cannabis, many different brands and dosages. The menu at Oceanside CWeed is separated into types of edibles - chocolates, cold drinks, hot beverages, high-dosage, Sativa, Indica, CBD, CBN, capsules, and more.

Just reading the list of basic categories can feel excessive. This is why it’s a good idea to have an idea of the result you seek, flavour preference, or clarity with your dose. And, please remember, we’re here to support you regardless of how much research you have done.

2. When you’re buying edibles, be sure the THC content is clear and you understand the THC dose per bite.  On our menu, we let you know the dose per gummy.,

Gummies are a great way to explore with confidence.  As you won’t need to cut them into smaller bites as they come dosed. Our favourite low-dose gummies are Sunshower, with 10 gummies per package so 1mg THC per gummy; or, Edi’s, with 20 gummies per package so 0.5mg THC per gummy.

3. Prepare your body for the experience. If you’re new to THC, start after eating a light meal – we prefer a healthy meal like a salad or a smoothie to ensure our bodies have nutrition.

The food in your tummy will slow down the time it takes to feel the THC. If you take an edible on an empty tummy, you will feel the THC faster.

4. Always start low and go slow. Start your consumption with one piece.  Wait one to two hours to feel the full effects of the edible you’ve consumed, if you feel you’re ready for more, then eat a second piece.  Once again, wait another full hour or two hours before even considering eating more.

The intention is to create only the best and most positive experiences for ourselves, so there’s no hurry to eat a full bag of gummies.

5. For your first few edible experiences, we recommend staying close to home and creating an easy day for yourself.  Think dog walks, relaxing at the beach, or connecting with a lover.

We also love edibles for events like festivals and a day on a boat… but we’ve only consumed gummies for these types of experiences once we’re super confident and comfortable with our knowledge of edible consumption.

6. Most importantly, remember to always store edibles in safe places where the prying eyes of children or guests won’t mistake them for yummy sweet treats.

7. Enjoy the process of finding your dose. Thankfully the legalization of cannabis is bringing us higher-quality edibles than previously available. It will be easy to explore your happy dosage by exploring different gummy products.
